About the concept

Listen to feel, think and create!

Isn’t it interesting, that human’s mouth is created with an option to be closed, but the ears are not? However, a human has learned to do the opposite. Today, closing our ears and shutting down our awareness of everything we don’t want to hear, is easier than ever.

We filter out content and friends on social networks, limit ourselves from diverse opinions, news and tastes and choose to listen to only what is already in line with our beliefs.

It seems that we’ll never have enough of learning to speak. Persuasion, argumentation, the art of presentation… But how about the art of listening?

When we speak, we disclose and repeat only what we already know. Whereas listening can bring us something unprecedented. And it would be just the first level of listening. Next, is to feel, think and create something new. In other words, when the ears are open — mind and heart are too.

Therefore, this year as well, TEDxRiga presents stories and people, which are worth a listen. Listen to arrive on a new level of feeling, thinking and creating!

WHAT IS TEDx?

x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxRiga, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxRiga event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
